Descrizione
This is an absolutely stunning walk with beautiful scenery, and it is great for dogs. The trail also provides stunning views over the Loch.
Rob Roy was a Scottish outlaw and folk hero from the mid-1700s. He hid in this cave when conducting raids or hiding from the Duke of Montrose's men. There is an eight-foot drop to get into the cave, so please be careful of your footing.
From the trailhead, there are three colour-coded trails to follow. This route follows the red trail, which first takes you west through a mix of woodland and open fields, past Lochan a Ghleannain, and then turns north to Loch Ard. The trail then follows alongside Loch Ard, with a short out-and-back section to Rob Roy's cave, before heading back into the woods and to the trailhead.
Please note that reaching the cave requires some scrambling and can be tricky to find. Good weather is never guaranteed in Scotland, so always come prepared with waterproofs and warm layers. On a similar note, these trails can get quite muddy at times, so make sure to wear suitable footwear.
