Library: Snow and Avalanche

As the next winter season approaches, Bluerando starts talking about "Snow and Avalanches" again with the online publication of my collection of books, magazines and articles on this topic.

In almost 40 years of professional activity, but not only, traveling around the snow-capped mountains of the world, for an authentic and strange passion, I have searched for and then bought every type of paper document I could find that dealt with, in every aspect and in any language, the theme of snow and avalanches.

I have thus stacked almost 700 books in my office in Milan which in my original idea should have constituted a real library on a specific theme to be consulted for theses, studies and research concerning a fundamental topic for mountain safety. Unfortunately, the organization in which I had placed my trust to accompany me in this project did not want to follow up on the matter. So I decided to implement the idea myself; for now it is just an online list, but who knows, maybe one day the dream will come true and in a small room of some foundation these books can also be browsed by other enthusiasts or simply curious people who want to deepen their knowledge.

On Bluerando you can now select texts by subcategory and language, or search for a book or other document by typing part of the title or author in the relevant field. For each text, in addition to the cover photo, you will find some useful information for searching for it and, if of interest, purchasing it around the world. There is also a comments option, where you can possibly insert an observation and send some questions to the Bluerando editorial staff. At the moment only books are present, but in the coming weeks you will also be able to find articles extracted from old magazines, conference reports or other material. If you have any books that you cannot find in my online collection, please let me know; I will certainly run and look for him to join the others.

Consultation of the Snow and Avalanche Library is reserved for registered users

Registration is easy, fast and free! It only takes a few minutes and will give you the opportunity to take advantage of all the features of Bluerando. Through the Bluerando app you can record, review and share your activities on the snow and beyond with friends.

You can use the tracks shared by other users to plan your trips, check the position of your trip companions on your phone, consult updated avalanche bulletins (in the areas covered by the service).

Finally, you will be able to send your "observations" directly from the app, and thus contribute to the construction of a large database of "snow events" (avalanches, snowslides...), which will be made available free of charge to all bodies dealing with avalanches and danger forecasts.
